Psychotherapy
What is Psychotherapy?
As human beings, we cannot escape the experiences that arise from our psyche (all the elements of the human mind, both conscious and unconscious), emotions, interactions with others, and life in general. As such, we also all experience stress, distress, and various challenges in our lives. Psychotherapy helps people to identify and change thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that are problematic or contribute to their distress. Psychotherapy conducted from a Positive Psychology perspective further supports clients to identify their strengths and inner resources, build resilience, overcome challenges, and ultimately, to develop greater wellbeing. In the field of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing, psychotherapy aims to assist clients to go beyond simply “coping”, in order to flourish and thrive! Ultimately, psychotherapy can support people to live happier, healthier, more productive and more fulfilling lives.
My Psychotherapeutic Approach
I work with pre-teens, teenagers, students, adults, and couples who are looking for support and guidance regarding their personal growth, development, and healthy functioning in various aspects of life. I collaborate with my clients from an integrative and holistic perspective as far as possible, considering connections between mind, body, and spirit. I am also practical, solutions-focused, and passionate about Positive Psychology and Wellbeing. We will work together to build on your personal insight, growth, development, skills, and overall wellness and wellbeing.
“Be grateful for your difficulties and challenges, for they hold blessings. In fact… Man needs difficulties; they are necessary for health, personal growth, individuation and self-actualisation.”

Parent Guidance
Whether you are single-parenting, co-parenting, step-parenting, adoptive-parenting, young child-parenting, teenage-parenting, or still navigating your role as parent with your adult child, we could all use some support along the parenting journey. I work with parents to enhance understanding of their child’s developmental context and needs; to support self-awareness and insight into parents’ impact on their children at all levels; and to develop skills to improve parent-child relationships, parenting approaches, and general wellbeing and functioning in the family context.
“The parent-child connection is the most powerful mental health intervention known to mankind.”
Group Workshops
Ten years of teaching all grade levels, including lecturing to university students, has given me a wealth of experience working with groups. Furthermore, I initiated and developed the ‘Space 4 Wellbeing’ programme at St Stithians Girls’ College, in which wellbeing-related topics are taught and facilitated with high school students. I am passionate about the power of groupwork, and available to create and conduct workshops on various topics, according to your needs.

“Members of a cohesive group feel warmth and comfort in the group and a sense of belongingness; they value the group and feel in turn that they are valued, accepted, and supported by other members.”
Psycho-Educational Assessments & Exam Accommodations
I conducted psycho-educational assessments and exam accommodations assessments during many years of practice. Please note, I no longer assess primary school children (but I can refer you to someone who does!).
Please contact me should you require one of the following:
- Contact details / referrals for an assessment for your primary school child.
- An assessment for exam accommodations / general assessment for your high school student.
- An assessment for exam accommodations for your university / college student.
- Assistance and support in understanding the results of a psycho-educational or accommodations assessment that has already been conducted.
Assessments
Other Assessments
I am qualified to administer, interpret, and report on the following assessments:
The EQi 2.0 measures an individual’s emotional intelligence. It evaluates various elements of EQ; including self-perception, self-expression, interpersonal relationships, decision making, and stress management. A person’s EQi profile provides a comprehensive picture of their emotional and social competencies, highlighting strengths and areas for development. It is considered one of the leading tools for assessing emotional intelligence in various personal and professional settings.
The EQi 2.0 is a useful assessment tool in the following contexts:
- Personal growth and development
- Personal coaching
- Career counselling
- Leadership Development
- Talent Selection
The LPCAT measures cognitive learning potential; it identifies an individual’s current and potential future level of reasoning ability. It assesses a person’s general non-verbal reasoning abilities and learning potential, and thus does not require language proficiency or prior school learning.
The LPCAT uses a dynamic test-teach-test approach, with training being provided during test administration to afford examinees an opportunity to optimise their performance. The LPCAT is available in English, French, and 10 African languages, and takes approximately 1 hour to complete online.
The LPCAT is a useful assessment for the following:
- Guiding students in their subject choices, tertiary study, and vocational decisions
- Identifying people for training and development opportunities
- Screening, selection, and placement of people / staff
- Selecting students for bursary and learnerships
