Mindfulness-Based Interventions

I have a special interest in Mindfulness and Mindfulness-Based therapy and practices, having completed my Masters’ Dissertation on ‘An Adolescent’s Subjective Experiences of Mindfulness’, back in 2008! I was awarded
Best Evidence-Based Study’
for this research, and also invited to present at
The First International Conference in Rome in 2013.

I was delighted to also attend the 2019 International Conference on Mindfulness in Auckland, New Zealand, as well as the Mindfulness Conference (Mindfulness Approaches in an African Context) in South Africa, the same year.

Most recently, I completed the ‘Teaching Mindfulness-Based Groups’ training through IMISA (Institute for Mindfulness South Africa) in Cape Town in 2023.

“Recent studies of mindfulness practices reveal that they can result in profound improvements in a range of physiological, mental, and interpersonal domains in our lives.  Cardiac, endocrine, and immune functions are improved with mindfulness practices.  Empathy, compassion, and interpersonal sensitivity seem to be improved.  People who come to develop the capacity to pay attention in the present moment without grasping on to their inevitable judgments also develop a deeper sense of wellbeing and what can be considered a form of mental coherence.”

~ Daniel J. Siegel

“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation, and healing.”

~ Jon Kabat-Zinn
